Infant Breastfeeding Reduce the Risk of Diabetes

Many studies have shown that breastfeeding can reduce the risk of various diseases. Breastfeeding infants are not only good for the health and nutritional adequacy of the baby but also can reduce the mother's risk of developing diabetes.

A recent study published in the journal Diabetes mention, breastfeeding for a month can reduce the risk of prediabetes by half. Prediabetes is a condition that can trigger diabetes.

The study, which lasted for 20 years was found, the mothers who breastfeed have glucose levels and blood fats that are healthier than those who breast-feeding a baby with a bottle.

In this study, the researchers involved 704 women who were waiting for the birth of first child. The researchers see the development of metabolic sindorm (prediabetes condition) for 20 years after their birth.

The study shows, breastfeeding can reduce the risk of diabetes between 39 and 56 percent depending on the length of menyususi. Women who experience gestational diabetes (high blood glucose has during pregnancy), and even received greater protection in the next age, with reduced risk of diabetes between 44 and 86 per cent.

"It is not clear how breastfeeding reduces the risk of diabetes," said Dr. Erica Gunderson of Kaiser Permanente care organization in California, was quoted as saying dailymail site. According to him, this effect is not caused by differences in weight gain, physical activity or healthy lifestyle
